Host Ana Edwards is also chair of the Sacred Ground Historical Reclamation Project and a co-founder of the Defenders for Freedom, Justice & Equality. For 27 minutes every week, DefendersLIVE features interviews and commentary on topics relevant to Richmond's community - our poor, working class and progressive community members. The program is a discussion designed to make connections to past and present, near and far events, people and ideas and encourage contemplative and critical thinking.

10/12/2009: Conversation with Mayor Ousmane Simaga of Segou MALI as part of visit for signing of Sister City Agreement between Richmond and Segou. Delegation members also interviewed included Madani Sissoko - President of Segou's Sister City Commission, Mohamed Doumbia - Assistant Director of the Festival Sur Le Niger and Nouhoume Simaga, nephew to the mayor, businessman and staff of Office of Tourism in Bamako MALI; acting as translator was Robin Poulton - then President of Virginia Friends of Mali.
